Pure

Here's the quilt I made my sister! The fabric is Pure by Sweetwater for Moda. The quilt pattern is Flowers in the Garden by Sweet Jane on Etsy with (from what I remember) a 2" border then a 7" border. The size is 102"x102" (roughly a king size). The shams are extra fabric left over from the quilt with some borders added to make it a standard size sham. I also added piping and the back of each sham is a flap with ties.
*Emily is wearing the cutest top from Target!
Jon's mom is home from the hospital and doing as well as expected. She was finally diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme (I think I have it right). It's brain cancer and inoperable. She's undergoing radiation and will start chemo pills today. We will be leaving next week and it's going to be hard.

We were able to get to the beach yesterday so I'll show some pictures of the girls later. We might get to the Zoo or Sea World; a request by Jon's mom. Well see...

The quilt is gorgeous.

Miss Emily is lovely.

Tell Jon he, his mom and all of you are in my thoughts. Have as much fun while you are together as you possibly can. It doesn't hurt any less but laughter is powerful and good memories help.

The quilt looks amazing! You were so clever with quilting the shams at the same time. I will have to remember that the next time I quilt something.

Emily is looking so much older! She's beautiful!

I'm glad you all got to go be there with Jon's mom. Please tell him we're still thinking about him and all of you. Love you guys!

Let Julia know that I will be finding her house, breaking in, and stealing this bedding. I truly love in Jen. It is gorgeous and I have decided that instead of just living with my jealousy, I am just going to become a thief :) JennyBean...ps Sierra said it is pretty too.

I have a terrible time knowing what to say, sorry I haven't commented, but your family has been on my mind. Life's fragility is a frightening thing.

The quilt is beautiful and so is Emily. You did a great job on both.

Sorry about Jon's mom. How are you guys holding up? Wish I could have seen you while you were in the U.S.!

Beautiful quilt and shams! May I ask what brown you used for the border for those shams? I am making my husband a quilt from the argyle prints and having an impossible time matching a brown or blue to it. Thank you!

Hi Tiffany! Thanks for leaving a comment. The brown was difficult for me too! The 1st pure quilt I made (this one you're commenting on) I used the brown with tiny blue polka dots on it that's from the line. But then my friend wanted the same quilt and I had so much trouble trying to find that brown with dots again. I looked everywhere on line and even contacted the fabric designers but they didn't have anymore.

I looked around in my stash and found the perfect solid brown. It's old though and probably not around anymore (like 7-8 years old). It's called Porch Swing by Brannock and Patek for Moda (don't know the actual name of the fabric only the line it came from). I have been hoarding this brown for so long because it's actually like a shot cloth, two-tone type fabric. Black and brown. It's gorgeous and looks like it has texture.

I did find a pretty good match (but not exact) from a UK store (I have their color card). It's called "Klona Cotton" not Kona!
54" wide and the color is called Brown. the site is backstitch.co.uk. I would use it if I didn't have this Moda brown already.

I just found this almost exact match too: October Afternoon for Riley Blake, Fly A Kite, Dot Brown.
