Tea Party Dress

Oliver + S tea Party Dress. Made from a cotton/linen blend I think in Navy. The whole thing is lined with navy ric rack detail. Corinnea, if you remember, I didn't care for this dress as much as the other patterns by Oliver + S. And I didn't care for the Jump rope dress or the Music box dress...seeing a pattern here? Dresses! Emily didn't wear dresses that much so I had no need to make any of these. But now that she has to wear a uniform, I have an excuse to make them!!! This is the size 5. I added about 3" to the length (at the smallest part of the skirt) and then ended up cutting off about 2" (after I already put the hem facing on). It looked hideous at first. It went out at the bottom like it had wire in the hem. But now it's  better.

That's mascara on Ava's lips. And food. It's on her tongue too. At first I thought she was eating it then I realized she was putting it on like lip gloss but she must of accidentally brushed her tongue with it too. Nasty! Every Time she does something I think, Emily never did that. It's bad I know but I still am shocked at all the things she does! She repeats bad words, draws on everything she shouldn't, gets in to everything she shouldn't, eats crayons, mascara & old food from the couch cushions, breaks everything she touches and does not take no for an answer!

Love the dress. It looks like a blast getting to dress girls!

Oh I love her in the dress!!!! I think cutting down the flare was a good idea. Sorry you were mostly done...

I love ava's face. I am sure her pushing the envelope is exhausting, but channel it and it can be rewarding!

You know since I call her Ava Arwin, it must be the fairy in her. I have read lots of fantasy over the years and fairies are not sweet, innocent, and beautiful. The are full of mischief, devious, can be quite mean by human standards, and are still beautiful to lure us into their traps. I guess she is a fairy :) Love you, Jen

The dress is darling! I really like ricrack trim. Oh Ava.... If you take the average of the two of them - Emily being unnaturally good, and Ava being Ava, then you get a normal kid! They balance. :) Just teach her the right thing and model the right thing and eventually she'll grow up to be a healthy member of society. :)

Oh,that makes my tongue itch to look at Ava's photo and know it's mascara!!! What a personality! I agree with Kelly, just model and teach her, and let her take it from there. She's going to have a really cool personality! And, I like what Jen said about her being a Fairy . . . I think it's true!!! Ya know, Tinker Bell was a little stinker, too!

Ava's going to really make you work your parenting skills, haha! I absolutely love the dress, and she probably feels so great having handmade clothes to wear esp since they are restricted to a dress code.
