More Hopscotch

That look (minus the new teeth thing she's doing) is Ava staring off into space which she does all the time. The crazy eyes usually happen when you call her name several times. She won't look at you but she'll start the crazy look and then laugh. Try and look away from the crazy face to the cute top!

So anyway, on to the shirts! More Hopscotch Tops from Oliver + S. This time I used the selvedge from the green polka dot knit for the contrasting neck binding. For some reason this knit comes with a wide white selvage. I really like the look although next time I would cut the neck piece bigger than the pattern piece if that makes sense. Because the neck pattern piece is supposed to run perpendicular to the selvage not parallel to it. Not enough stretch.

I took this Heather Ross Munki Munki tank set and turned it into.....

This top! It's another Hopscotch shirt. There wasn't enough of the shorts material to make this shirt but I have another idea for those. I LOVE this top!! It's sooo soft. My Aunt Karen sent the tank/shorts set. For those that don't  know about Heather Ross stuff, the set was bought so I could cut it up! Thanks Aunt Karen:)

And I cut the pattern pieces so I could take advantage of the lettuce edge already on the tank hem.
See her sleeve hem?

NICE JOB!!! What you said about the neck totally makes sense. I had to read it slowly, but it makes sense. The munki munki looks great! But did you get the whole long sleeve shirt out of that tank? Was it an adult set? I have got to find a source for cheap knit here! I want to be making tees for me! :)

Thanks Kelly! It was two tank tops and yes they are adult size. I got more of the polka dot Oliver + S knit and a couple other knits on Etsy. It's hard though because I want to see it and feel it 1st. The Oliver + S knit is soft and fluffy and doesn't curl. The tank top is thin but super soft. When I was in the states I got some really nice $12.50/yard jersey type knits at Joanns for tops for me. After seeing yours and Corinneas knit tops I wanted to make some too!!

I just love those Hopscotch shirts! I am so tempted to get this pattern for my daughter. You mentioned in your last post the shirts were size 5...my daughter is 2 1/2, normally wears a 3T, weighs around 34 pounds, and I was planning to buy the smaller sized pattern, but now I'm wondering if I should get the one that starts at size 5 instead? Do you think the pattern runs small? Your Ava looks about the same age/size as my daughter, so I'm worried the smaller size pattern might not fit or would be outgrown too quickly. Any advice? Thanks!

Ah. Maze. Ing. I love them!!

The tops you made are really cute too!

Ha ha... No really, those are the cutest things. I can see why you like to make them. I want some too!! I love the way you used the fabrics.

Those girls are growing too fast.

Damn, you're so talented! I just LOVE the hopscotch shirts!! I can't believe you created that pink one for Emily from the tank set.
As for Ava zoning out, I told you that Steve does that, too. He's creeped people out when he's done it in public. We call it "stroking out", and I have to say his name several times to get his attention, too (and yes, the crazy eyes happen, too but not the laugh) :)

Jennifer: I would get the next size range. Ava (3 yrs this month)is about 34lbs, 35" tall, chest 21" and waist 22". As you can see, the 5 fits her good! I think on both of them I used the size 6 for the length but everything else is size 5. For Emily I think next time I will go up one size. Usually O+S patterns run big for Emily but not this one. Definitely get the 5 and up sizes!

Julia: I almost spit my coffee out this morning after reading your comment! Calling it "stroking out" is too funny! Apparently seizures can look like that too!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Always makes me feel good:)

I don't know what I love more - your daughter's crazy faces or the fact that your relative gave you clothes to cut up and make into way cuter clothes? Awesome.
