1st sewing project

I shouldn't show this because it's butt-ugly* (me and the dress) but I found a picture** of my 1st sewing project from a pattern! It's from July 1984 (if I did my calculations right, I was 12)! A female friend of my father's helped me make it. The dress had a beach scene border all around the bottom and the back of the dress had a cut out about where your bra strap would be. It's awful looking and I can see in the photo the facings were coming out around the neck line but I'm proud of myself anyway:)
*I went through some serious FUGLY stages.

a long time ago..

I came across these photos today and had to share (they make me laugh). This is what Jon used to look like when I met him. He was about 125 pounds, had lots of hair and was really into grunge. The picture of the both of us is probably 1993 and it's in front of our 1st apartment. We were going to a 70's party. Jon borrowed clothes from my dad! The shirt was actually made by my mom out of authentic yucky polyester back in the early 70's. We couldn't believe he still had it! My clothes were a mixture of thrift store and fabric store (gross tube top fabric that was sold in a tube shape! You just cut the amount you needed and pulled it on. No sewing!) and my step moms closet (the crotchet vest). The other picture is of Jon after we had dyed his hair Marge Simpson blue and then bleached the crap out of it. That photo has 1994 written on the back.

Do you know Paul Cano and Pam Cakes?

No, those aren't our porn names:) I'm talking about volcano's and pancakes! Here's a video of Emily playing "what is it?". She was hung up on volcano's this game and would only describe and guess volcano's. Paul-cano's made me think of pam-cakes which we had for lunch today so I had to share that she also calls those a funny name too. Oh, she also says padda-purder (or something like that) for caterpillar.

developed

Here's some photos I had developed today. The first one is of Emily about a year ago (same with the last photo underwater). The two middle ones are from yesterday. I used a LOMO action sampler for the shots with four photos and a disposable underwater camera that is awful indoors. I have been having trouble loading my LOMO Fish Eye camera but as soon as I figure out the problem and take some pictures I'll post them-they're super cool!

I rounded the corners!! Ich tat es! Hooray!
You'd think this would be easy but I could not find an easy tutorial until I found this one.

Fairy Cute

this photo is of Emily when she was about 14-15 months. The frame is from itty bitty.

This is one of the hats Corinnea made Ava. Of course it fits as soon as it gets warm out!

Preview

I took 426 photos of Emily this morning for her birthday invitations! Out of all those photos probably 50 are decent. The rest are bad lighting or she's making a face or it's the back of her, etc. Here's the ones I photo shopped.

Binky's and Chocolate

How many Binky's does a girl need? Apparently she needs all of them and will carry all of them around (about 6) if we'd let her. She'll have her Binky in her mouth and say "where's my Binky?". I guess that's kind of like when we're wearing our sunglasses on top of our head and ask where they are.
These are called Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups made with Pepperidge Farms Puff Pastry Sheets, chocolate, peanut butter and marshmallows. They are so yummy! They reheat well the next night too.

Patchwork bag

I finished this bag yesterday. It's not my favorite at all. I made it to help sell the fabric and book. The bag on the cover of the book is not so cute but made up it's better looking. And it's huge!

A website after my own heart

I haven't tried any recipes as I just discovered this (the chocolate peanutbutter gallery) website today but I will for sure try the Chocolate Peanut Butter Freeze and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Spread.

I am sewing...

**I really am sewing! Or at least I cut out two things today. I just have to go back through to every photo I own and photo shop it to see what happens!
This one of the Clava Cairns in Scotland is one of my favorites. Me and my sister went in 2005. I used a pre made thingy (frame or something like that with texture) to lay over it then fade.
My sister and her husband Steve in San Diego (2005). Again I laid a texture thingy over the picture and then faded it.

can't stop

I don't want to do anything else but play around with photo shop! I bought some really cool actions from this person and this person. I really wish I had found photo shop years ago. It was just too expensive and a friend told me it was out of my league and don't even bother. Shouldn't have listened to him.....
I just found out my brother (check out his website) is going to send me photo shop CS2!!

I have no idea....

......how I did this but I love it! It's a combination of actions from here (pioneer woman action set 1 for free) and trying to round those stupid corners! I cannot figure this out! I have tutorials and even Lizy gave me her short and supposedly easy instructions but I'm still having trouble.
This photo is of Emily and Kayla this evening after they were riding around on their scooters. Emily's shoe was falling off so Kayla tried to fix it.

photoshop

I'm taking a photo shop class at the store. I have always wanted to use pre made actions (or whatever they're called) but didn't have a clue how to even use photo shop. So after 2 classes and a little bit better knowledge (not much though, photo shop is sooo complex!) I downloaded some free actions and played around with them today. These are my results above. The 1st photo of each set is the original. I have so much to learn!

I love Germany!

**I have no idea why this keeps happening but if you super size the window picture it takes you to Corinnea's blog! It's happened before...

Corinnea and Adrienne mentioned spring on their blogs so I thought I'd show the view from my kitchen window. It's even greener in person and so dense! The ugly fence isn't too bad. You get used to it and it keeps us all safe (or as safe as can be).

I made 8 more diaper/wipe thingies (only 7 pictured) and one lonely bib.

Contest

Back in October I entered a Halloween contest at FOTOART; an online store I frequently buy stuff from. We didn't win but they did send us a mouse pad made from the photo I submitted as a thank you for entering. I can't tell you how happy this makes me! I love this photo! The 2nd picture is all the magnets I've ordered from FOTOART for ourselves (I've ordered many for family and friends-they make good stocking stuffers) the quality is awesome. They are made out of a thick resin or something like that.

Fabric

I just got in these new fabrics. The top five are for diaper/wipe thingies. I really like that green and pink paisley it's really cute in person. The bottom five are from this line by Denise Schmidt. I love the two lines she's put out so far. At the store we carry the Orange/brown colorway.

Star Wars and a new bag

I got the pattern on Thursday and now it's done! I spent all of today sewing at the store. My back hurts bad! It's really cute and I'm sooo happy with it. The instructions though were terrible. I hate to say that because I don't want to discourage anyone from making it but you should probably be a very experienced sewer. It only has 2 or 3 illustrations so you have to be able to visualize. Some of the instructions I just didn't understand and had to go with my gut feeling. There's more but I'll stop. I don't want to bash the people who made it as it really is cute when completed. I think Corinnea should make one and tell me what she thinks...should we or shouldn't we carry it?
The Star Wars stuff is for Kelly and Adrianne. Remember Kelly, I mentioned the bumper sticker and the card? That card makes me laugh every time I see it. It's from 1995! My sister gets me the best cards:)

Mau Mau

Here's some pictures of Mau Mau for Corinnea to see. The top one is my little Pig Blossom as a kitten sitting on Mau. The next one is of Mau, Alfalfa between his legs and Piggy in the back ground. The last one is of Mau Mau on our patio (back in the states) getting some sun. I caught him in mid meow. He looks like a devil cat but really he was the sweetest cat. Well, except when if was feeding time. He would push the other cats out of the way and go from bowl to bowl eating all the food (we had four cats so he had lot of bowls to choose from). He died about 4 years ago maybe 6 months or so after we got here. This is the cat Jon and I got when we moved in together 16-1/2 years ago! We had him cremated and he now sits on a shelf in a little black urn.

UFO

These onesies are coming out so cute (if I do say so myself!)! So this one will be up for sale on Tuesday. I love to make baby stuff. Everything looks cute in miniature:)

Trying to replenish

I'm trying to replenish my stock at the store so here are some aprons in sizes 3t to kids 7. I also sold the butterfly onesie I did the other day (so happy about that!) so I'm doing another one from the Sublime Stitching book...a space ship! I'm offering two classes his month: Embroidery 101 Friday May 23rd, 1-3pm (learn how to do the embroidery from the Sublime Stitching patterns we have) and Mei Tai baby carrier on Sunday May 18th 12-5pm.Emily and Ava
