Pink-eye

An Easter egg painted at the store. I punched circles out of sticker paper (just mailing labels) and stuck them to the egg. Then I painted it 3 times. When it dried I took tweezers and peeled off the dots.
This egg box was also painted at our store by Emily (and me). I lightly drew flowers, a sun, clouds, etc. and had her paint them in. I then did the other two coats and then I painted the inside lid.

This hideous fabric is a very stretchy polyester. I got this when I worked at Yardage City of San Diego so I've had it many many years. I think it was given to me. I'm pretty sure I didn't pay for it. I took it because I envisioned a shirt out of it. A short sleeve button up with a collar for Jon. I thought it woud be funny. I remember telling Corinnea many months ago that I had a fabric for her (this is it Corinnea!) to make something for Colin. Well I found it in the basement when cleaning. Shall I bring it in?

I have pink-eye. That's right, I'm 37 and have pink-eye. WTF? (Corinnea: what was your super nice definition of WTF? That's the one I mean). So I stayed home from work, sent the girls to Mary H's and I cleaned! I cleaned the basement storage 1st then came up and cleaned all over the house. This is what I discovered when I moved the couch. Nice! That's where my embroidery hoops are! That's cheese wrappers and other yucky stuff you see there too.

Finished projects

I finished the two Sophia Carry-alls I had started ages ago. All I had to do on one of them was sew a couple of stitches inside the lining (literally a couple of stitches on each end of the zipper)and the other one needed the lining put together and then sewn into the bag. I guess I was "over" the bag and put it aside even though I had only a tiny bit left to do.
The bags are for Emily and Ava. Emily's is the Elephant and Ava is the Butterfly's.

Bag pattern is Amy Butler, Sophia Carry-all. Fabrics are Japanese imports from etsy and Superbuzzy. The lining fabrics were bought at the Heidelberg store about 3 years ago and I don't want to get up and see who they are made by:) If anyone wants tips on making this bag, feel free to email me.

Here is a shot of the lining on the pink-handled one. I ran out of star fabric so I had to use something else. Not happy about that but oh well..

And the lining for the green-handled one. The rick-rack is my favorite part about both bags!

Here's Ava wearing the yellow Simple Servant Frock from here (it's the one I made for Emily). And I finally finished the Oliver+S Swingset Top for Keara. I had started this ages ago too. I'm hoping it will still fit Keara even though she's 1-1/2 years old (it's an 12-18 month) but Margaret says she's small so we'll see. In case you think you've seen this before, I made Emily the same exact top but in her size last year.

When I had Ava we worried that Emily would be jealous and mean to her...who knew it would be the other way around! The above photos are of Ava shoving Emily off her seat! She gets SO mad if Emily sits in my lap or Jon's or if Emily sits in a chair that Ava had her eye on. Emily gets upset too but she's not as mean as Ava.

Giant clothes pin

A giant clothes pin I decoupaged with Sassafras Lass robot paper. I used Mod Podge and iridescent white paint. I've been wanting to do this forever! Finally I can say I did and move on to the next thing:) It would be cute in a boys room I think holding either a picture or maybe a reminder for chores, etc. I had wanted to do it in Christmas paper to hold cards but never got around to it. It would also be cute holding a baby announcement and some kind of coordinating paper decoupaged on it.

And here is my new shelf in my sewing area! If you check my work blog you'll see the picture that's on the box and it's so much neater and prettier than what I have done with it (so far). I need to go to Ikea and get lots of containers..until then it looks bland..
The pink fawn is from here and the turtle is made by this wonderful person who is having a giveaway..by the way:). I made the Wednesday doll and the girl in the photo is my niece, Bird. There is a little wooden sewing machine table that my step-mom got me in Mexico I think. It's just like an old Singer sewing table where the machine folds down in to the inside. The shelves aren't tall enough for me to display it open.

Bunnies and sack lunches

Bunny slippers for Ava made from this pattern. I also made a the same exact pair but smaller for Heidi's new baby but I forgot to take a photo.

A new apron made from new fabric (for the store). I love this fabric! It's Michael Miller and it's called something like "first sight".

Here's that sandwich I blogged about a while ago. I made the lunch sack and chips plus a donut to go with it. It's for a friends little girl who's birthday was a week or so ago. I'm late...In my defense I messed up on the bag. "Katie" was supposed to be embroidered on the bag not on a piece of felt then sewed on to the bag. I had cut out the bag, embroidered it then sewed the seams and realized I had cut the bag too small (actually I embroidered her name to big!). SO instead of throwing the whole thing out I just cut her name off the too small one and sewed it on a bigger one. Not my 1st choice but I wasn't going to throw away the whole thing! I did her name because my dad used to pack our lunches and he'd draw on the bags.

Who asked me if Emily ever wears tutu's? Corinnea? Well anyway, I said she wears all her tutu's and princess clothes at once for about 5 minutes then takes them of and won't touch them for another month or so. That's how she rolls....

*this photo with Ava peeking out reminds me of those photos that you take at a bar (for example) and when you develop them there's a guy in the back ground making a face or something worse like his pants are down. I think there's a page dedicated to this type of thing in Maxim magazine or one of those men's magazines.
