Doing Stuff..

It turns out I will be doing the felt leaf garland as a class for November and this one (Gingerbread Man) in December. The one above is my 2ND one (although not completed). The 1st was sort of a trial one and right after i hung it in the store someone broke it! But actually that's OK because it wasn't that great. This one is better but It's still missing something...and you can see the glue on this 1st ones buttons. I got better at gluing them on after that!

And purse to go with it. I didn't make it. I really really wanted to make a purse that looked like a brown bottle that said "drink me" on it but I don't know how to do that!

This is Jon's hat and below is the costume. I bought it. I had to.

I don't have enough time to make one and I had a hard time deciding on fabric's/pattern when I thought I did have time! So I found this one for cheap compared to a bunch of other sites that had it for $300+! I don't know why this site had it for so much less (under $80). I couldn't have made it for that: My time, searching for a top hat that resembled The Mad Hatters (making one was out of the question) finding the right fabrics, blah blah. I take costume making seriously, you know:).

Felt Leaf Garland (part deux) and Art

Another felt leaf garland. FYI: I'm not done with the felt garlands. I have some Christmas ones in the works:) I'm supposed to be sewing my costume though.....

I have uploaded to my sidebar, the leaf templates/instructions in PDF form. They are a little ghetto but easy enough to understand I think. These pictures are horrible! Like Corinnea, I too have bad lighting. It's always so dark in here!

The garland was made from looking at the Pottery Barn Kids one below.

They were originally meant to be sewn together like the other garlands but this was going to maybe be a class and Corinnea wanted simple (glue). But it's not going to be a class now. The glue is totally fine but I think sewn with some details outlining the inner leaves would have been pretty. And sewn with wool felt would have been a whole lot better! You can still see some glue on one of the leaves because it's not dry yet and the leaves are just pinned to the ribbon for now.

I painted Emily's nails and put nail stickers on them.

I got this pad of paper with frames on it as an early birthday present (it's about 12x12, and just like a large post-it) but I was thinking how I didn't want to buy another pad of this when it ran out because it's $12-ish. I remembered that I have these frames from Kitschy Digitals and how they would be perfect to make my own!

The above picture is the pad of paper from Amazon, called Jumbo Museum Frames. And below is all the frames I printed myself.

Dragons, Pirates and Bats

Yesterday I went to Mary A's house to take photos of these 3 in their costumes.

This was one of the first pictures and Ava already was done. Such a turd. I do like the stink-eye look though. She does me proud:)

The perfect dragon. Doesn't it look like his wings are flapping?

I keep saying that in my head when ever I see the above picture.

All 3 costumes are Old Navy.

I didn't get any shots of Ava with her bat hood on (she won't wear stuff on her head). Emily was a little over 2 when she wore this and Ava is a little under 2 and it's tight on her. Since she won't wear the hood I think she'll end up wearing Emily's chicken costume instead for the actual trick-or-treating since the hood is attached.

Nicolas..what can I say? He's just the cutest.

This is walking back from the forest. It was HOT and a loooong walk.

And Ava BEFORE we even started. Everything she is wearing was Emily's. I don't know why but I love seeing/knowing that.

Spring Ruffle Top & Scrap Bucket

Remember the Spring Ruffle Top I made my sister months ago? Well here it is on her! It looks so good on her if I do say so myself:) The fabric is a Batik and the solid is a Kona cotton.

And below is a new pattern I got the other day. looking at the pattern picture you wouldn't think it could be so cute. I originally saw the pattern made here and had to have it. I know I could have made this pattern myself (well, I think I could have) and could have saved $8 but I HATE making my own patterns and will willing pay to have someone else do all the work. I just don't get how to make a circle bottom anything, does anyone? What's the formula?

This is the large size and it's much bigger than it looks. I tried to put it next to things so you could see the size (Emily, my sewing machine)

It's 9" tall and about 27-28" around.

FYI: At the PX they finally have in the Holiday Colonial Candles!! I have been waiting since last year for them to have the Holiday Sparkle scent. I am in looooove with this one. I have it burning right now. I also got the scent, Cranberry Cosmo. That is super yummy too! Closer to Christmas I'll break out the pine smelling candles. Speaking Of Cosmo's, I haven't had a decent Cosmo drink since we left San Diego:(

Also, FYI (because it's just fascinating!) Emily has an imaginary friend. Her name Ajenna. She has a sister named Anina. A dog named bingo (and the dog has a brother also named bingo). She has a cat Davey who has a brother named Alfo. Ajenna lives far far away in America. She lives in a big city and when asked what she looks like I am told "she looks like a person". She has black hair, lots of toys and doesn't like to clean.

One more thing. A while ago we got a Shaun the Sheep DVD and the girls (especially Ava) loooove it! LOVE it! We have 2 different ones and they have been on super heavy rotation the last couple of weeks. I highly recommend them.

I'm reading the next Outlander installment (did I say that right?) "An Echo in the Bone" and watching the 4th season of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". What I need to be doing is sewing my Halloween costume and Jon's. I'm going to be Alice in Wonderland and Jon will be the Mad Hatter.
